CHICKEN EGG FARM

A Micro-Finance Opportunity For Health & Employment

FOCUS:

Rimba Raya Community Focused InitiativeCommunity

A project drawing from the personal experience of a Rimba Raya Community Development employee, Rimba Raya has begun a pilot project to establish Chicken Egg Farms at 2 villages within the Reserve.  This project began in August of 2016 and initial results are promising.

Villages within Rimba Raya Reserve are considered major stakeholders of the project and we consistently look for opportunities to work with them providing for their future. To that end, Rimba Raya has encouraged a micro-finance opportunity to develop a sustainable chicken egg farm business opportunity for member villages, encouraging increased employment and improving health benefits for everyone involved.

The general design for the initial chicken farms involves a structure housing 200 hens, generating monthly revenue of over IRD 7,280. The project is still under evaluation, but excitement and interest has grown steadily since inception and we look forward to expanding this initiative over the coming months.
